Inside Cedar Rapids’ Former Strand Theater: House of Iron Downtown

Downtown is a working gym inside a former theater. The historic brick gives the room its character; the equipment and recovery spaces give people a reason to use it every week.

01

A former theater, back in daily use

House of Iron Downtown occupies Cedar Rapids’ former Strand Theater. The exposed brick and scale of the room make the location feel distinct from a standard retail gym space.

The setting matters, but this is not a museum. It is a gym built for regular sessions, early mornings, and the routine of training.

02

Weekday hours begin at 4:00am

Downtown is open from 4:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Friday. Weekend hours are 7:00am to 6:00pm.

03

Recovery is in the same building

The Downtown location includes a sauna and cold plunge, along with locker rooms and showers. Members can keep training and recovery in the same visit.

Use recovery amenities according to current House policies and your own health needs. Questions about medical safety belong with a qualified healthcare professional.

04

When Downtown makes sense

The published Downtown membership is $65 per month. It fits people who value early weekday hours, the Downtown location, and access to the sauna and cold plunge. All Access costs $85 per month if you also want Westside.
